Hi
What prompted me to update the NavData is I just signed up for PilotEdge, and am flying their 1st “CAT” VFR flight scenarios from L52 to L88 (New Cuyama) in California, USA.
From the note in this link, in August 2022, L88 was listed as closed to real world operations. On October 7, 2022, L88 passed their required inspections and is officially open.
Before the NavData update, I tried using Direct on the PFD, and Nearest airport buttons to go to L88, but L88 does not appear in the list.
If I try to start at L88, the airport is listed with an X in the name.
I signed up today and updated my X-plane Nav data. I’m using X-plane 12, on a Mac M1, (Mac OSx Sonoma 14.1.2) and the default Skyhawk 172 with a G1000.
I downloaded the FMS Data Manager app, and successfully updated the data. When I go to the PFD and click warning, I don’t get the error that the nav data is out of date.
So far, things look good.
I looked at Airport L88 again. It is still showing as closed, and does not appear in the G1000 in Nearest airports, nor Direct button.
If I try to start at L88, it is listed with an X in the name.
Questions:
Does the NavData also control the list of open vs closed airports?
Is there something else I need to do to finish the update so the Location for new flights, and the G1000 Nearest airport and Direct buttons will also find L88?
Or, is L88 still considered closed in your data and everything is working correctly?
Hopefully, the screen shots loaded correctly.
Thank you for your help.
Mike
