Hello Navigraph Team,
I’ve recently encountered a bug while creating a VFR flight plan for helicopters in Navigraph Charts Desktop.
Even when no runway is manually selected, the software automatically links the center of the runway to the helicopter parking/start position (H1), creating an unwanted route segment.
This issue occurs even if the departure point is correctly set to the heliport parking area and not to a runway.
The problem does not appear in IFR mode and only affects VFR plans using helicopter stands or helipads.
Steps to reproduce
-
Open Navigraph Charts (Desktop version).
-
Create a new VFR flight plan from LSGS (Sion Airport).
-
Set origin = LSGS, but do not select any runway.
-
Place the start position on the helicopter stand (H1).
-
Observe that a line automatically connects the H1 position to the center of Runway 25, even though no runway was chosen.
Observations
-
The purple line appears between the runway and the helicopter pad (H1).
-
Removing or editing the runway link is not possible without deleting the entire flight plan.
-
This behavior is specific to helicopter operations, as airplane VFR plans behave normally.
Suggested behavior
When the user selects a helicopter stand or helipad as origin, the software should:
-
Avoid linking to any runway automatically.
-
Allow helicopter VFR plans to start directly from the designated helipad.
Thank you for your attention and for your great work on the VFR features of Navigraph Charts!
This small fix would make helicopter operations much smoother and more realistic.
Best regards,
Philippe
