I am rarely comfortable with flying VOR to VOR.
But I have a question according to fly a sid.
Ex: ESNU sid Dedit 2L start rwy 32 heading 310 after reaching 800feet turn right.
Then I have to capture heading 174 to Dedit. But how??? In the old charts many years ago I fly a heading to intercept Ume Vor and then get a radial to Dedit, I cant do that until I reach Dedit to hold the radial 174
The charts are not showing UME VOR freq, but I know it for this airport. In the old days there was an NDB which I could intercept to reach the radial.
How do I do today, and it is not the only airport that make it difficult to fly aircraft that only have analog navigation aids, but it is very interesting. We fly the aircraft. Have I missed something in Navigraph???
Anyone have any kind of idea.
Regards
Bjorn
It’s an RNAV departure, says so directly on the chart. So you cannot fly it old school.
Non-RNAV aircraft could depart visually, use the “omnidirectional” departure or possibly get radar vectors from air traffic control.
Non-RNAV aircraft are very rare IRL nowadays, and will typically be smaller aircraft used for VFR flights or low-level, short-distance IFR flights. Aircraft as large as the 727, especially if flying in e.g. the EASA area, will have been upgraded to be RNAV-capable (if I recall correctly, it’s pretty much mandatory for some routes and/or above a certain flight level).

Tim
