Descent to FL190 during CRZ? (not on airway)

Since France started becoming a Free Route Airspace and removing certain airways, theres been an issue on Simbrief when flying westbound from Switzerland to Spain, where Simbrief will plan a descent to FL190 at certain waypoints (in this case LERGA) during cruise.

  • These points are not on airways
  • These point are not flight level restricted
  • These points are mandatory routing points for when crossing that section of France. You can check the Eurocontrol RAD Annexes yourself.

As you can see, for some reason simbrief has me at FL190 between LERGA and MAQAB. Ironically, the icao flightplan as it is will make eurocontrol spit out a bunch of errors. Remove the FL190 step descent, and eurocontrol has no issues at all.

Hi, thanks for the report.

This has been a long standing issue. The reason is that the RAD Annex 3B still lists a lot of these DCTs as capped at FL195.

Until now I’ve been manually correcting them when I see them, but clearly that isn’t enough. I’ve now set it to ignore all French DCT restrictions that are capped at FL195. That should fix the issue for good.
