What I expected to happen.
Clarify your expectations. It’s easier to understand the anticipated
behavior and determine whether it’s truly a bug or a usability issue that
needs to be reviewed.
Earlier worked fine, only needed to validate Navigraph credentials in GTQ via Navigraph webpage once and it stayed active even whole simulator was closed.
What actually happened
Please describe what happened in a way that enables us to find the problem
without follow-up questions. For instance, saying “the charts do not work”
or “login is broken” doesn’t help. To the extent that it is possible, please provide clear steps to reproduce the
problem. Screenshots and error messages are helpful and encouraged!
Now everytime I load the simulator, or actually even when I have gone back to main menu and spawn to new location (basically when I reload aircraft), I need to validate credentials again and again. I already tried to launch simulator as Admin as instructed but it didn’t do anything.
Worked normal somewhere within last 2 weeks, didn’t mark the exact moment when noticed this issue, was something like closer to end of last week, had small period between that and latest flight when it worked. Don’t know what has happened after that. If remember right, there was maybe some Mandatory (basic content) update in MSFS within that period. Any way to figure out what is causing that? Or any tips I could try, like reinstalling something (plugins etc)?
Unfortunately, there is no direct advice we can give on this - the root cause of this issue is beyond our control. We have not made any updates, so it sounds like the content update caused changes to the filesystem that prevent new values from being stored correctly.
The only tricks we have learned over the years of trying to help users who get stuck with this issue are to 1) Exit the simulator cleanly and 2) Try running as admin. None of these steps should be required, and the second option is highly discouraged for many reasons.
We could of course set up a remote session to take a look at your specific case more closely if you want us to, but every time that we have done so in the past it just ends up with the conclusion that the simulator just “forgets” about the stored data We have yet to find a common denominator for the different cases we have seen unfortunately.
Perhaps a simulator reinstall could help since that would recreate all the relevant files, but there is no guarantee
I totally get your frustration! Being bounced back and fourth like this is not a great experience for anyone. We have reached out to WT ourselves (directly in-person even) and they did not know what could cause this.
If you want, we can set up a remote session where I connect to your computer to make absolutely sure that our plugin is doing what it can to persist your credentials! If you’re interested, please let me know of a time that would work for you!
Well if it would help resolving the issue which also some other users with other aircrafts have had, I would be delighted to have remote session when schedules fit together. What kind of warning time approx you would need for session?
As mentioned earlier, we have conducted these investigations several times and concluded that we are storing the information and that the simulator forgets about it for some unknown reason.
I want to make sure that you feel that we have done everything in our power, and a remote session to confirm the issue is the best we can do, unfortunately
If you let me know of a day & time that works for you some day next week, that should work well for me!
