Avro RJ/BAe 146 speed schedules

Hi there. I’m just looking for some clarity regarding the available climb, cruise and descend speed schedules for both the Avro RJ and the BAe 146.

Basically, I’d like to know, which speeds are meant by the HighSpeed climb and descend profiles, and which speed is used for LRC/MRC? Is there an OFP layout that would show those values?

I’ve found conflicting information in airplane manuals (real vs JustFlight) as to what the High Speed schedules are and they don’t seem to match with Simbrief either.

Hi, the SimBrief profiles are based on:

Climb

Long Range: 250 kts transition to about Mach 0.62, then Mach 0.66 above 31,000 ft
High Speed: 250 kts below 10,000, then 280 kts transition to Mach 0.66

Cruise

LRC: 240 kts / Mach 0.68
MCR: 300 kts / Mach 0.72

Descent

Long Range: Mach 0.60 transition to 250 kts
High Speed: Mach 0.72 transition to 290 kts

Cruise speeds can be seen in most OFP navlogs, but climb/descent speeds often aren’t shown (in the real world pilots should just “know” these speeds, so most airlines will not list them in the OFP).

Best regards,

Might be useful to indicate them in the drop-down for convenience.

Regards,

Tim

Thanks so much for getting back! This is very useful to know.

Yep, as you’re saying, airlines will usually have established speed schedules for climb and descent phases that are a line or a paragraph in the OMs, or maybe just taught in training or sort of freestyled in day to day ops anyway. Especially for the 146 and RJ those seemed to differ a lot between the airline sources I found, so knowing what Simbrief is calculating with is very helpful.
