(X-Plane12 user)
First, great job adding this functionality to Navigraph. I’ve been using ForeFlight (FF) with simming, but find that an expensive option. I’m very pleased to see your development as this will help me replace using FF in the sim.
When I had the traffic and location together active, during preflight and prechecks I found it very slow reacting to touch and page changes. S9o much so, It was unbearable to use.
When deactivating the traffic, helped immensely.
I miss using a scratchpad during preflight/ATIS and other gathering of info to be used to setup navigation and flight planning. FF has this option. (very minor)
In the future, during development and testing, I would actively love to participate in BETA testing this type of functionality. I mostly fly the HotStart Challenger 650/X-Plane12.
Yeah, the traffic is updated every second and can contain thousands of new positions. That is going to impact performance - to varying degrees depending on the hardware of course!
Which version of the app are you running? Make sure that you are on the hotfix 8.37.1 for the best possible results at the moment. We’ll always to optimize things as best we can, but this feature can be quite the challenge when there is a lot of people flying on the network!
See the Scratchpads topic in the wishlist! If you have not already voted for it, feel free to do so!
Feel free to try out today’s update v8.38.0 to see if it helps your situation!
In the future, we will likely include a configurable setting where you can opt out of frequent updates to improve performance. For now though, this feature is expected to be on the heavier side when it comes to performance!
I will make sure to update both my iPad and phone. I’m assuming that running this from the website on my sim computer will be running the latest version already, correct?
Yes, it should! Check the settings page to see what version is currently running. Browser caching could stop you from seeing the update immediately, in which case you need to clear it or wait for it to expire!
