The New EASA Fuel Policy

With the introduction of the revised EASA fuel policies later in 2022, will SimBrief be modified to support them?

Hi Richard,

I looked briefly at the amendments but it does not appear that much will need to be modified. The new policy reorganises the regulations a bit into different schemes, and provides more flexibility to operators who can apply to use their own fuel policy (with several conditions of course). But the basic/default fuel policy appears to be mostly unchanged.

That is to say, basic contingency fuel will still be 5% (or 3% with an ERA), min/max contingency fuel hasn’t changed, the ERA location requirements haven’t changed, etc.

It remains to be seen what exactly the individual or operator-specific policies will look like.

Best regards,

I look forward to seeing how you address the operator-based fuel policies.
Thanks for your reply,

Hello,
If you select 3% / 5 min the software does not select you an ENR, while it technically should. If you use EASA, then it does. Can you please fix it?
Thank you!

Hi, this is intentional. If you want it to select an ERA, you need to choose the EASA option. The EASA option considers a few other factors in addition to simply a 3% / 5 minute rule.
