Omit OPR/ from Item 18 in ICAO flightplans by default

Hi all,

OPR/ in Item 18 of the ICAO Flightplan should only be filed if the operator is not clear from the callsign or if the operator is different from the callsign owner.

Source: Flight Plan Guide: Item detail

Could this be modified? Potentially a different field can be made where the Operator can be entered during flight planning. This way people who wish to display a different Operator for a flight can do this yet the OPR/ is not incorrectly used in item 18.

You can prevent SimBrief from adding OPR/XYZ to your FPL by adding an OPR/ (OPR/ followed by whitespace) to the “Extra FPL Info (Item 18)” field of your saved airframe.

Your request has been noted, I will leave this in Feature Requests to gauge interest.

While you are perhaps technically correct regarding not including OPR/ if the operator is the same as the callsign, the reality is that many real-world FPLs still include it regardless (DLH, AFR, KLM, UAL, AAL, THY, SWR, EWG, to name but a few, after a few searches on EDI-GLA).

One reason might be that while your link says it shall be used to indicate the operator if different from the callsign, it doesn’t say it can’t be included if it’s the same as the callsign.

Best regards,
