I was able to update the navdata in x-plane 11 but the two aircraft I added - the B767 and B777 will not recognize the update.

If you mean the Flightfactor 767 and 777, they should be detected as:
If not you can manually add using +Add in Addon Mappings page.

That worked thank you! Although it does still say navdata out of date, the actual dates shown are current.
