Mismatch for ENJA runways

Hi there,

Today I downloaded a quite recent scenery of ENJA (Jan Mayensfield) showing a runway numbering (04/22) different from Navigraph’s flightplan (06/24). Beyond ATC didn’t like this and refused to accept this flightplan. As the airfield is quite remote, there are not too many sources showing recent information, but I found a Norwegian site supporting the Norwegian scenery designer.

.

I’m sure that you guys are able to clarify the mismatch. I think flying with MSFS 2024 build-in ATC would be rather a punishment than an alternative. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Hi,
We don´t have this airport or the runway in our database, so it can´t be an issue from our side. We don´t offer this airport in any add-on or in the sim. Sorry.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Richard,

How should there be a result in Simbrief?

What I did:

  1. First attempt: Filing a flight from EDWI to ENJA that was rejected from bATC, because the default ENJA has neither parking nor runway-starting spots.
  2. I searched flightsim.to a found a recent add-on of ENJA, getting now the message about the different runway numbering.

There was no change in Simbrief, as it always assigned Rwy 06 for arrival.

Actually, I even have no idea where to correct runway data in Simbrief.

Now I additionally changed the settings in LittleNavMap (showing the MSFS-imported Runway 04), switched it to show “Navigraph only” and failed. You are right, there is no information in Navigraph. Where Simbrief got the data from? I know that small fields are often not available and circumvented this by defining exporting LNM-flightplans to Simbrief containing user defined waypoints instead of ICAO codes.

Regards,
Axel

Hi Axel,
I’m sorry, but I can´t answer this question, and I will ask the responsible person. When you use the search button and try ENJA, you will see that this airport has not been found.

I will check this with the person responsible for Simbrief to get a more professional answer.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks in advance. Here is a screenshot showing the flight:

Hi Axel,
I have received Derek’s answer now. It’s a historical part in Simbrief. ENJA is a manual, tailored record in Simbrief. That was done long before our cooperation.

The problem is that these 15 tailored airports in Simbrief can’t be deleted because they will be used in active flight plans. Therefore, Derek decided to include them. That’s why you can enter them manually, but you don’t find them in the search. The search works only against the Jeppesen data source, not against the 15 manually added airports.

In other words, these 15 airports will not be updated or maintained.

Here is the list of the manually-added airports (without priority or order):

  • ZPDQ
  • FADD
  • FAVY
  • YSGT
  • URFF
  • UKFF
  • ENJA
  • RPVV
  • ZGSD
  • SCFX
  • MMJC
  • GMSL

Cheers,
Richard

Thanks Richard.

Actually, I’d been really surprised that my flightplan request regarding this small airport was successful. After , my TDS GTNXi refused loading the activated plan as it didn’t know the airport and needed a manually defined one. Now the reason not loading it is the runway mismatch.

Concluding this, there are several manually added airports in your database for different reasons. Some are existing and big enough to be in any active database (eg. ZPDD), others not necessarily (eg. FADD and ENJA) even if it would be wishful thinking to include any active and ICAO documented airfield.

You’ve triggert some research

  • ZPDQ - a bigger active airport, having even a couple of gates
  • FADD - a small field, active
  • FAVY - a small field, active
  • YSGT - a small airport, active
  • URFF - an Ukrainian airport, occupied by Russia 2014
  • UKFF - Ukrainian Airport URFF occupied by Russia in breach of international law
  • ENJA - a small remote island field, unpaved, active (mostly MIL)
  • RPVV - a small airfield, active
  • ZGSD - national airport, ILS equipped (Ref: Jeppesen temp. procedures 2012)
  • SCFX - military airport having no published navaids (remote island)
  • MMJC - midsize national airport
  • GMSL - former US airbase in Morocco, still MIL

Regarding Navigraph I’m thinking about EDDT and EDDI in Germany (both are out of order for many years now), SEQU, Ecuador, that is a nice urban park in Quito and closed for more than a decade now, and not to forget Kai Tak Airport (ex VHHH, now VHHX in Navigraph). Those airports don’t even exist anymore and should be optional in Navigraph, in my opinion (I already requested it and failed). I don’t think that those are still part of Jeppesen’s maintenance. In MSFS it’s even not possible to cover those airports by specific scenery files, because of Navigraph’s fixed top priority in the Community folder. I’ve tried this in MSFS 2020 and failed.

Well, usually I should have no intention visiting one of the above mentioned fields. I’ve just tumbled over Jan Mayens Island by chance, searching for a long range test flight with my PC-12 equipped with the TDS GTN, causing multiple surprises.

No issue anymore.

Cheers,
Axel
