How many votes do we get?

I’ve reached the voting limit, and my vote list shows 6 topics I currently voted for.

I’ve also found:

…and I suspect dlrk56 is correct, in that when a feature one voted for has been implemented and the corresponding topic has been marked accordingly, the vote in question remains tied to the topic and cannot be re-used towards other/newer topics.

Skysail suggested:

That’s odd! It’s probably a bug on the forum’s side, nothing we can fix, unfortunately…

…however, this is something that should be brought up with the developers or support department of whomever made the forum software?

At some point, some users might be left with very little to zero votes left and become unable to participate in that aspect of the forum.

Since the “ghost” votes and their associated topic do not appear in the “Votes” tab under Activity, actually finding the topic they are tied to (i.e. the workaround used by dlrk56) is difficult, time-consuming and in some cases might even be impossible?

Ping? This looks to have been forgotten/overlooked?

Hi Tim,

It seems to be a bug in the Forum software.

We are investigating how to get the votes for solved issues returned to your vote allocation. We want your votes to be gainfully used again.

Thanks

Which forum software are you using? It looks like it might Discourse?

Hi Tim,

It is Discourse, and we are trying to get closed topic votes reinstated.

This potential bug has been resolved. We have investigated the voting status of the forum. Any votes made for closed topics have been returned to users current votes total.

Most users have a maximum of 4 or 6 votes, depending on the posts they read and make amongst many factors.

If you come up against your maximum, you might consider unvoting for one or more of the topics in which you have voted to free up a vote(s).

Cheers

Ian
