Hi Derek @SimBrief ,
SimBrief perfectly uses the aircraft registration as call sign (field 7: aircraft identification), when no call sign is specified. However, the registration is additionally entered in field 18: other information (REG/N1234). Would it be possible to omit this remark if call sign and registration are the same?
I fully support Falk’s suggestion to omit the redundant registration entry in field 18 when the call sign and registration are the same. This minor adjustment would simplify the user experience without compromising any functionality. Thank you for considering this enhancement, and I appreciate your continuous efforts to enhance SimBrief for the flight simulation community.
Hi, after researching this, I think I prefer to keep the REG/ indicator for all FPLs. It is a requirement to include it for RVSM-equipped aircraft (regardless if using the registration as the callsign). And it is never incorrect to specify it, even when it isn’t technically required.
Note that you can force remove this indicator on a per-airframe bases by entering REG/ (i.e. no characters after the slash) into the airframe “Item 18” option.
Hi Derek,
thank you for looking into it and for sharing the information on how to remove the REG/ entry.
The requirement to have this information in my flight plan when flying RVSM is new to me. Eurocontrols Flight Plan Guide doesn’t mention it, but i looked it up in my local AIP and it is also asking for it. So it is absolutely right how it is done in SimBrief and I agree that there should be no change. Sorry for that. I will adjust my non-RVSM aircraft profiles how you described it.
