Currently when flight planning Simbrief will set a constant speed using either cost index or mach as specified for a flight plan.
However, as per real world, cost index is used and constant Mach assigned for Oceanic crossings. E.g. Cost Index 20 either side of NAT track but Mach 0.82 for the crossing.
Hi, SimBrief already assigns a constant Mach within oceanic airspace. It isn’t possible to manually specify it however, it’ll just keep whatever Mach number was calculated at the oceanic entry.
No ETA on when a manual speed override on a leg-by-leg basis might be added, but your request is noted.
IIRC, they recently remove the requirement for Constant MACH over the Atlantic/NAT tracks? Although it’s quite possible other oceanic ops still require it.
Any of the flight plans filed for NAT track usage have so with constant Mach set at entry until exit.
It would be beneficial to have such a feature as Cost Index flying either side of the crossing can be at a lower speed and/or higher and thus the flight plan fuel usage will be different.
