YSNF RNAV X approach not available in Vision Jet

I would like to fly the MSFS 2024 Vision Jet from Williamtown (YWLM) to Norfolk Island (YSNF). The RNAV X approach for runway 29 is available in Navigraph charts, Simbrief, MSFS 2024 Flight Planner and the simulator EFB but not inside the Vision Jet. The same thing has happened at various other airport. Could you please explain why this is happening?

Maybe, because the VisonJet is not certified to fly AR approaches? The approach itself is in the data (checked with the G1000).

Cheers
Richard

Hello Richard, the MSFS 2024 Vision Jet uses the G3000 and there is an RNAV Y approach at YSNF for runway 29 available in the aircraft, which is the older type RNAV approach without any curved approach paths. Whereas the more modern RNAV X approach has a curved approach path which is available in all other apps except inside the Vision Jet. It seems to me, that the G3000 navigation database as not been updated. What do you think? I have successfully flown the Vision Jet on a curved RNAV approach path at YWLM.

The Working Title G3000 avionics are automatically filtering out RNP AR procedures from aircraft not certified for them such as the Vision Jet. This is intentional.

How long ago was this? There have been some updates in February which made the filtering more strict and/or reliable than before.

Tim

Thanks for your email and research Tim. I thought I had flown one of the latest curved path approaches for runway 30 (RNAV X) into Williamtown, however when I went into the cockpit yesterday, the only approach available was the older type RNAV Y approach. So it seems like you are correct in that the Vision Jet doesn’t have the onboard equipment to fly the more modern approaches. Which is a shame. I find that the newer curved path approaches coupled with an integrated arrival procedure and VNAV to be a seamless and autonomous experience, especially when approaching the airport from the opposite direction to the landing direction.

Thanks Tim, for the confirmation and the details of my first concern. I have marked your answer as the solution.

Cheers
Richard

Just for what it’s worth, it’s not just a matter of equipment. There approach with “curved paths” (technically known as RF legs, for Radius-to-Fix which is the corresponding ARINC 424 leg type) are always “AR” approaches (Authorization Required).

In real life, these approaches require pilots to undergo special training before they get the authorization to fly them. Also, if I am not mistaken, the manufacturer is also required to certify the aircraft for such approaches, and this is not the case IRL for the VisionJet (which is why its developers and/or Working Title decided not to expose those approaches in the addon).

Tim
