Wind descrepancies for 2 users

Hi, just to firstly apologise because I pretty much am sure this has been asked before?

So, my friend and I are using paid for Simbrief and on the same routing inputted at the same time are and both receiving different winds aloft. Could this be because of where the Simbrief WX gets its info. from at the time i.e different servers?

It is also notable that the winds aloft differ in his injected winds in the aircraft to mine. Admittedly we are both using different injection tools, I NOAA and he Active Sky and he is on XP12 and I am on XP11.

I’m just trying to understand this, that’s all as I find it peculiar that we have four different wind directions & speeds.

Thanks.

MAH.

Hello, It could be due to the servers and the locations that you are at. However, SimBrief should pull from the same data set. Your OFP data should be the same. Was this the case? Your second issue about your weather engines are correct. They will both inject differently, so you may not get the same winds aloft.

Hi @jsokoloff.

Our OFP data was different and we checked that last night doing the same flight as eachother, this we found really odd and could not understand why? This made me wonder if SimBrief was pulling that info from separate/different serevers itself?

Cheers.

Hi, SimBrief does not pull from different servers. The winds should be identical.

Can you provide the username for your friend as well as the time you both would have generated the OFPs?

Best regards,

Hi.

Yes I can do that but I possibly won’t be able to speak with him tonight but definittely tomorrow evening. Hope this is ok?

Cheers.

Many thanks.

Hi again, it appears you had set different departure times.

Your flight:

Your friend:

SimBrief uses forecast winds when calculating flights into the future, so it’s normal for the winds to be different when changing the departure time.

Best regards,

Hello.

Thanks for pointing that out, I’ll have to Mike to step into my office for a ‘chat’!

Cheers.

MAH.
