Trying out BATC but not getting answers.
So why are STARs and approaches with long tansitions bothered with. ATC seems to prefer vectors. One in particular really bothered me. Vectored me into rnav 17 at vtsm which took me very low over a mountainous island, rather than use one of the transitions designed to take you safely between the mountains.
So why are stars published?!!
Richard
Hi Richard,
I assume you asked this in the wrong forum?! … Also, the RNP17 isn´t a STAR it´s an approach and I have checked the approach RNP17 into VTSM but there is no visual/vector segment included, also not in the transitions to the final.
I have also checked the data and also here, no Vx leg segment in this approach. So, we can´t really answer your question why BATC uses vectors instead of the original segments in the data. Sorry!
Cheers,
Richard
PS: by the way VTSM has no STARs
No, right forum! Not getting answers to my issues.
But it is also a more general question as many topics in different forums and videos on line talk about atc prefering vectors to ils etc. So why does someone go to the trouble of creating stars and transitions?
But I will put your comments back to the correct forum
Ps I did know there were no stars to vtsm, it was a general question!
Possible I misunderstood you Richard - but how should WE answer the question, why the ATC prefer vectors to ILS? We are “only” the data provider behind but we have nothing todo with the logic of the ATC nor the “change” from a defined path to a vector.
What I have done is to check your example and in this example, there are no vectors included in the data - so, when the ATC uses a vector than not because the data has one. It must be an other reason, but we can´t give you the correct answer why the ATC prefer a vector, where no vectors are in the data. Sorry.
Again, possible I misunderstood your report and your comments …
Cheers,
Richard
