If I make a route in simbrief (also Navigraph) it defines the runways and sids and stars.
If I use " open" in navigraphcharts (also from navigraph) I see that the selected runways are not in use.
I was wondering: if Navigraph knows wich runwayus are in use, why does it select via Simbrief the runways that are not in use? Often it is because the wind direction is wrong when not in use.
Anyone can clear that out for me.

In Navigraph Charts, where you see a runway usage label (dep, arr, not in use), you can click on said label and it will take you to the ATIS used to determine which runways are in use at the airport in question:
If the source of the runway status is SayIntentions.AI, then unless you are using SayIntentions ATC in your simulator, my personal advice is to disregard it and go with Simbrief’s runway selection instead.
It is possible to disable SayIntentions as a source for runway status in Navigraph Charts: Settings > ATIS Runway Status > Sources, then deselecting SayIntentions (so it appears Gray instead of Blue).

Simbrief makes the decision to go for a runway and navigraph cards tells me it is not in use
I should think that simbrief uses the same information that navigraph uses. But apparently that is not the case. It has nothing to do with the ATC programms.
And of course Sayintensions or BATC can always choose another one, but that is another “issue”
ATIS information, not ATC programs. Navigraph Charts sources “runway status” (dep, arr, not in use) exclusively from one of the following ATIS sources:
Simbrief similarly accounts for FAA/IVAO/PilotEdge/VATSIM ATIS when selecting the departure/arrival runways, but when none of those is available, it falls back to its own algorithm based on winds, and, for some airports, a number of airport-specific rules manually implemented to try and match real-world SOPs.
Where it differs is, Simbrief does not use SayIntentions ATIS to determine which runways to use. Sometimes (often), when the Navigraph Charts and Simbrief runways “disagree”, the source of the difference may well be the SayIntentions ATIS.
