My PC just shut down while updating to the latest AIRAC. Fans were spinning and going nuts. On restart I uninstalled all navdata and then did them one by one. Two planes in particular, iFly 737 Max and TFDI MD-11, caused my CPU temp to jump from low 40s to over 80. None of the other planes show this behavior on update/install. Why would those tax the system? I don’t even see temps near that when I am actually using the system for games or MSFS. With MSFS 2024 I see around 60 +/- 5 degrees on the ground at detailed airports with my graphic sliders almost maxed out.
Hi…,
Yes, the TFDI and iFly distributions have many more files than most other updates. So there is much more CPU activity, downloading, decompressing, and writing files to disk (SSD?), and maybe scanning them in your antivirus. SSDs can heat up in the process, adding to the extra heat from the CPU.
Cheers
