VFR/IFR world map flashes in G1000 in FS2024

Background:
In my experience with any G1000 aircraft in FS2024, though I feel that I experienced this in FS2020 as well, the IFR/VFR map page is very prone to intense flashing if the map is moved at all. The same flashing occurs when I try to authenticate the app.

Technical information:

  • Windows 11 Pro 21H2
  • Intel(R) Core™ i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz
  • Nvidia GTX 1080
  • 32GB RAM
  • MSFS2024 Premium Deluxe, SU1, via Steam
    • Developer mode off
    • Tested in the COWS DA40XLS version 1.0.3 (current)
    • Glass Cockpit refresh rate set to High (also tested Medium)
    • Monitor is running at 1080p, 120Hz (also tested 60Hz)
  • Navigraph Hub versions:

Scenarios:

  • Given I am in the DA40XLS by COWS in MSFS2024, or any WT G1000 aircraft

    • When I use the FMS knob to move the “VFR/IFR maps”
    • If the aircraft is not currently authenticated with Navigraph
      • When I authenticate through Navigraph
      • Then the page flashes between two screens rapidly (Link Navigraph Account and WPT Airport Chart)
      • And moving the FMS knob counter-clockwise and back brings me back to the same flashing page
    • If the aircraft is currently authenticated with Navigraph
      • And I navigate to the IFR/VFR charts page
      • Then the maps display correctly only when the aircraft is static and I have not touched the sreen
      • And if I touch the screen at all to move the map around
      • Then the maps flash again
  • Given I have the EFB open

    • Then the IFR/VFR map goes black but flashes if I hover over any of the EFB’s buttons, or the FMS buttoms/knobs
    • And dragging the map and waiting a second causes the map to appear again normally until moved again at which point it starts flashing again

Additional info that might be useful:

  • The EFB Charts app works completely fine on all modes
  • Testing 60Hz monitor refresh rate and Glass Cockpit refresh rate of medium had no effect
  • I do not appear to have the Charts Desktop app installed currently, if it matters

Please confirm you have the Avionics Plugin G1000 v 2.0.0 installed:

Hi Ian, it’s installed as shown in the screenshot I shared in my original post. Should I remove and reinstall it?

Why not, to be sure.

Cheers
Ian

Unfortunately, that didn’t help. However I now notice that I’m getting weird subtle flashing even without opening the navigraph page when I hover over the softkeys. I think this is a WT/Asobo issue that happens to impact Navigraph. I’ll report back if I figure anything out.
