Updating Charts fails, "unable to close Navigraph Charts"

Whenever there is update available to Charts Desktop, update starts to install but fails with error in screenshot. Already all background processes closed too but doesn’t help. Need to always uninstall Charts and clean install new version.

When clicking Uudelleen (Try again), same error.
When clicking Peruuta (Cancel), get another error message, screenshot below.

Thanks a lot for the screenshots, thats very helpful!

  1. Close the Charts app if you have it open.
  2. Open Task Manager and look for any Navigraph processes that are running, right click and end them.
  3. Try uninstalling the Charts app again.

Not working. No Navigraph-related background processes active in Task Manager as already mentioned above… until launching Charts, aiming to update it, then there is process which closing not succeeding during update process.

And this doesn’t still solve the actual issue: Not able to update Charts when there is update available. Always need to the hard way, trying to uninstall old version (might succeed or not), then need to download and install new version manually.

Have you tried running the Charts app as administrator? Its likely your user account permissions are the issue.

Also tried this but not working.

Hello,

From the issue details, it looks like charts application is installed by other admin user, can you please uninstall application manually with same user? Or try login with admin user and uninstall the charts application manualy. After that login back to your normal windows user and install the charts application.

Please let us know if you still face the issue.

Thank you!

There is no other users (or user accounts at all) on this PC than me. I uninstalled older version manually, downloaded and installed new version manually (with standard rights, not as admin, unless only profile equals admin rights automatically?). Yeah, it’s worked as always. But the issue with updater unable to uninstall older version has been since Charts 8 was published. And I can’t understand why is this.

Hello,

Thank you for the update! We are glad to hear that you successfully installed the updated version.

Regarding the Charts updater, it may fail to uninstall automatically due to permission issues accessing certain files or folders.

Please feel free to inform us if you continue to experience any issues.

Thank you!

Any tips what permission it should be given and how? As once again, this didn’t solve the original issue. No other application has had this kind of issue on my PC earlier.

Hello,

The Navigraph Charts application is installed in the folder at C:\Users\<YOUR USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Programs\navigraph-charts. Please check the folder’s permissions to see if it is accessible to your current Windows user.

Thank you!

Is the issue here? “Read only” seems to be checked…

For the user rights, my user account has “full rights”:
