Unable to update / reinstall Charts

Hello all

Can someone help me maybe? I cannot update Charts, the error “Navigraph Charts is running. Click OK o close it. If it doesnt close, try closing it manually” appears…

And if i uninstall Charts with Revo Uninstaller with registry entries etc. the SAME error-message appears… WTF??? There is no component of charts running anymore. I have the same with SimToolKitPro.

Please help :slightly_smiling_face: thanks

Best regards, Trickedlist

Hello!

You said on Discord that you had already restarted your computer, right? As long as you haven’t manually forced Charts to start when your computer restarts, the application should definitely not be running.

A few additional checks you can make:

  1. Press Win + R
  2. Type the following and press enter:
wt powershell -NoExit -Command "& $env:LOCALAPPDATA/Programs\navigraph-charts\Navigraph` Charts.exe"
  1. Does the application open or do you get an error?

If all else fails you should be able to start your computer in safe mode (with internet) and attempt the installation there. It really should not come to this though!

Best Regards,
Malte

Hi!

Thanks for Support.

No that does not work. After i executed your command this comes up:

  • & $env:LOCALAPPDATA/Programs\navigraph-charts\Navigraph` Charts.exe
  • CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (C:\Users\Admin.…raph Charts.exe:String) , CommandNotFoundException
  • FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException

Note that i have already uninstalled Charts. Also with Safemode i dont figure out a way to solve this issue.

Ive found in AppData\Local to more folders of Navigraph Charts called “navigraph_charts-updater”

One is from the previous version 8.13.1 i had installed before uninstall
And the other one is 8.23.0. the new build i want to install.

Maybe this helps?

Thanks and best regards, Laurin

That should confirm that the executable is not on the computer. Which makes any message like “Navigraph Charts is already running” super unexpected - what executable is it running?

You can remove them as well!

If you are in safemode, the OS will not automatically start any applications. If the installer still reports Navigraph as running, then something is wrong with your system.

So you’re saying that an installer freshly downloaded from our website is still telling you that our app is still running? Can you verify that this is the case using Task manager or process explorer?

Press Ctrl + Shift + ESC to open Task manager, then check the “Details” tab. Do you find anything Navigraph-related there?

I answered you via mail, but as the first answer was shown here in the forum, the second with pictures not… So i copy the text i had sent to you.

Here in Safemod tryed to install, again same error as you see in the picture below

THEN i found another installation of Navigraph, an older verision of 2022 on an other drive:

Tried to uninstall this, but… again dosnt work

Looked into revo uninstaller and there is no other charts listened

Forgot to attach:

If i run this install, it will open. But updating through the programm results in same error.

Hi,

Which Windows version are you on? If you are on Windows 10, then try this FAQ: FAQ - Charts desktop installer fails immediately

The trick is to open the legacy “Programs and Features” window as shown in the screenshot.

It mentions Charts 7, ignore that and just install any Charts version you can find in that list.

Any help?

Regards,

Stephen

Hello

Im unsing Win10.

This dosnt help. Because as i said, after uninstall the latest Charts version i had, there is no more entry in Apps & Features. Also not if i lookup with Revo Uninstaller.

So, now its only an older build (2021) installed on a seperate hard disc drive. I cant uninstall it because of the error that navigraph is already running nor can i use it for flightsim because outdated.

After i tryed to uninstall / update / install there are new folders showing up in AppData

1: AppData/Local/navigraph-charts-updater/pending (contains .exe and update-info.json)

2: AppData/Roaming/Navigraph/Charts (contains .first and .settings)

3: AppData/Roaming/Navigraph Charts (see screenshot below)

Maybe this helps…

AND i have the SAME Issue with SimToolKitPro. But i am unable to contact developers of STKP because the only way is via Discord, but unfortunately i was banned there because my account was hijacked a time ago…

Best regards

Hi,

I asked you to use the legacy Programs and Features function, not the new Apps & Features. As illustrated in the screenshot in the linked FAQ. Can you please try that too?

Stephen

Yes, i tried booth:

I have now uninstall the Charts from the seperate hard drive with Revouninstaller Hunt Mode.
Now i dosnt have any Charts on the PC anymore.

Can someone help me? Its still not working, otherwise i give it back and you can give me the money back because its not useful in this matter… really sorry

Hi! Sorry to hear that you are still having issues.

At this point, and given that you have issues with other software (not just our Charts application) - I would say that something is definitely wrong with your OS. I assume that a faulty registry could be the culprit, especially since you are using a 3rd party uninstaller that could do more harm than good in this case.

Perhaps this uninstaller software makes registry backups? Worth taking a look at that. Otherwise, you could either try to fix the registry manually (using this guide for example) or, perhaps even simpler, reinstall the OS from scratch.

It sounds like a pain for sure, but given that this is not an issue with Navigraph Software, I am not sure what more I can reasonably do to help you in this case. Apologies for the inconvenience! I can also almost guarantee you that a complete reset would make the other software you had issues with work as well.

If you would not like to try a system reset and rather want a refund, please contact account@navigraph.com - perhaps we could arrange something!

Kind Regards,
Malte
