I tried updating Simlink to no avail. Simlink is shown as running even after a full uninstall, and it’s been pretty frustrating. In the icons menu the simlink logo has a red circle and when trying to do a fresh install i get a warning saying simlink is already running.

It appears that Simlink has not been uninstalled correctly. When you attempt to install the Simlink application using the installer, if the Simlink application is currently running, you will be prompted by the installer to either close it or refrain from updating the Simlink files. Please click the “Yes” button to allow the Simlink installer to close the application and update it to the latest version.
In the system tray, located in the bottom right corner (as shown in the screenshot you posted), if you see the Simlink icon with a red cross mark, it indicates that your installed Simlink application is not logged in with your Navigraph account.
To Sign-In in to the Simlink application, please double-click the Simlink icon. This action will open the Simlink login window, as shown below:
