Simlink "Could Not Connect To Simulator"... despite trying NUMEROUS fixes

Long time Navigraph subscriber. Simlink always worked with no problem at all. I took a long break from MSFS 2024 over the summer and am trying to play it. Now, using the same exact PC, Simlink WILL NOT stay connected to MSFS 2024. Tried

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled Sim Link with latest version, 1.1.40.1707
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled Sim Hub with latest version, 1.2.24
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled Navigraph Charts with latest version, 8.40.1
  • Turned off Windows Defender firewall
  • Deleted Navigraph folder in Appdata and it created a new folder after relaunching
  • Checked a settings file in Appdata for a “proxy” line; there is no such line
  • Using the same log in for Charts, SimLink, Hub, etc. I only have one log in
  • Turned off router and PC; turned back on
  • Ran both Charts and Simlink as administrator and not as administrator
  • Signed out and signed back in Simlink numerous times
  • Restarted my PC a dozen times trying different “solutions”

Sometimes it works randomly. Then I restart my PC to test and ONCE AGAIN, “CANNOT CONNECT”. Very aggrivated with this considering how well Navigraph always worked for me, and I’m fairly knowledgable about networking and troubleshooting. It should not be this difficult!!!

Below, the log from Simlink when it randomly started working for a reason of which I have absolutely NO IDEA, and then when I restarted my PC it ONCE AGAIN “CANNOT CONNECT”.

Updating this post.

After spending nearly 2 hours on Simlink “cannot connect” issue, I now realize you need to be in the cockpit in MSFS 2024 for simlink to work. It does not connect when your character is walking around the plane. Ughhh! I wish I knew that before trying every single troubleshooting step listed above!!!

I now consider this issue “resolved”, but I’ll leave my post up so others can see how frustrating this is. This is because I always make sure everything is working before starting my flight, and when I checked the moving maps on Charts and it was not working, I started practically started banging my head against the wall trying to find a solution when there was no underlying problem.

Overall, if you want people to stop asking about this, somehow inform them that they need to be in the cockpit for Simlink to work, or change something so Simlink works while the character is walking around the airplane - not that the latter is necessary, but it would help others avoid going through all of the troubleshooting steps that I did which were unnecessary.
