Simlink causes regular ~1s frame stutters when aircraft is moving

Simulator Version

MSFS 2024

Operating System

Windows 11

Description of the Issue

I fly in VR and very tightly optimize performance in order to keep a smooth experience. Recently I was trying to track down an unusual and consistent cause of reprojection occurring, seemingly about once a second during flight. This wasn’t a problem I was having recently so I wasn’t sure what was going on.

I won’t bore you with the troubleshooting steps, but eventually I realized that the frame spikes only occurred when the aircraft was in motion. As soon as I stopped, they went away. If I started rolling again, even very very slowly, they came back. Like a heartbeat pulsing every second or so. I thought for sure it had to be something monitoring SimLink so I started closing things that did, with no change. Then I recalled that I had recently started running the SimLink app again, and sure enough as soon as I exited that app, all hitches went away.

I have a video showing exactly this with a frame time debug on, but it is too large to upload.

Hi,

This may be a memory issue. Please provide hardware details, including RAM, CPU, and GPU.

Trust me it is not a hardware issue. Nor a memory issue. I had plenty of resources free. Given I fly in VR I am extremely conscious of the setup because I need every frame.

Ryzen 7950X3D, RTX 5090, 64gb RAM, all NVMe drives.

Hello,

Thank you for the hardware details.
We are currently investigating the issue and will inform you of the solution as soon as possible.

Thank you!
