For the last week or so, I’ve seen some strange things when using SimBrief to plan my flights.
First issue is how sometimes when pressing the generate flight plan button, the map on the right side of the screen doesn’t update correctly and based on the generated flight plan. Instead, only a small portion of the map seems to update. Really odd, hard to describe in text and never seen this before. I’m using Google Chrome, I’m on the latest version and I have tried to do a hard reload and clear cache to no avail.
Another thing I’ve also seen is how the numer of PAX always ends up being 178 (meaning full load when flying the iFly MAX8) even when the field for passengers is set to AUTO.
Not really sure what’s going on here, if something got screwed up on my side or if these are both server-side issues?
Edited to add, could also be something weird going on with Chrome. Because when I think about it, I did see some other strange things as well. Where it feels like Chrome which usually is very quick sometimes seem to lag before it reacts. A Chrome issue shouldn’t be able to affect the number of passengers though…
Hi, we don’t have any other reports of this at the moment.
In Chrome, you might want to check that “Use graphics acceleration when available” is enabled in the Chrome system settings. Paste this into your browser URL to go there directly: chrome://settings/system
Also make sure you have disabled any browser extensions, particularly ad blockers can sometimes cause page issues.
For the passenger count, I think you’ve just been (un)lucky. Note that regenerating the same flight (with the same departure time) will not result in a different passenger count. However if you change the departure time by even 1 minute, the randomization will be different.
I just tried regenerating your latest flight with different departure times and got the following:
I checked the setting you suggested and it was already enabled. I also checked extensions and the only one I found in there was Google Offline Docs or whatever it was called. Nothing I need so got rid of it. Meaning I now have no extensions. I also don’t use any ad blockers.
One thing I’m thinking is if this could be related to https://vatsim-radar.com. Reason is how I’ve noticed how that site has also become quite laggy lately where it used to be very smooth. This is just me guessing though. Could be it’s slow for the same reason SimBrief is behaving a bit odd lately.
Will try to generate a new FP later on to see if the PAX account will be different in the same way it’s for you and has been for me in the past. I know the PAX number will be the same if you edit a FP but what I’ve seen over here is how it has been 178 every new flight for a number of days now.
Really odd issues both of them. Maybe time to perform a thorough virus check of my PC
Well…what do you know…I just tried generating some more FPs and now after closing the vatsim-radar tab I usually always have opened in Chrome and now with that one closed, the PAX number is randomized again and Chrome feels as rapid as it always used to be.
So, whatever vatsim-radar is doing, it seems to affect Chrome quite badly including any other websites you have opened at the same time.
Problem solved, lovely and from now on, I will rely on the Vatsim functionality which since recently has been added to Navigraph. I did like Vatsim Radar because it came with lots of nice features and was very easy to use. However, what is available in Navigraph is the most important information and I do like not using more websites and apps than necessary. Always trying to keep my system as clean as possible.
