SimBrief Flight Plan not preloading into GPS

I regularly fly the Black Square BE58 Baron on MSFS2020. In the past the flight plan would auto-load (via the Downloader app, I presume) into the GPS system on this aircaft. Now it will only intermittently load and usually now the flight plan has to be manually loaded after engine start/avionics ON. Am I doing something wrong?

Th flight plan appears correctly on the MSFS World Map page, both in the text ribbon and on the world map display. The button also dislays and is used to ‘import’ the flight plan.

Hello, could you verify that the correct folder is being used? Send us a screen shot of the path? just delete any sensitive information.

Here you have it! As you can see it conforms to the instructions from SimBrief exactly.
When loading the flight plan I have tried using the SPACE MORE button followed by the LOAD SAVE buttons on the following page within MSFS2020; I have tried just loading via the SIMBRIEF button and then ‘importing’ the flight plan; I have even tried doing both. Nothing works.

As additional information, in all cases, prior to pressing the FLY button. the whole route, including departure from stand to runway, is visible on the WORLD MAP page.

Just to ice the cake: I was showing a colleague the problem when on one occasion the flight plan loaded. I hadn’t done anything new, but there it was when I started the GPS system. I have not been able to replicate that one-off success since.

Try C:\Users\john\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
Without the “packages”

Hello Ian,

I tried your suggestion above - no joy, I’m afraid.

I then went back to including ‘Packages’ in the link - still no success.

Exploring a bit further I found an anomaly: when I use the basic Windows File Explorer and navigate to the link suggested, the flight file is there along with previous flight plans. However, when I navigate to the same destination folder using SimBrief Downloader, none of my flight plans are displayed. Is this normal, or is this why none of my flight plans are loading into the aircraft GPS automatically?

Cheers

Hi Ian,

Ignore my last post on the forum: I realise that, of course, the path found within SimBrief Downloader app will only show folders, and not individual files.

Cheers,

John

I actually have a question: what is the preferred method of loading a SimBrief flight plan into MSFS2020? I ask because there seem to be two different methods.

The first is to use the SimBrief Downloader App, checking that FS2020 has been selected, then pressing the download button. Next, when running the World Map page in MSFS2020, click on SPACE - More and, on the page which appears, clicking on LOAD - Save and navigating to where the flight plan is now stored and finally clicking on OPEN.

The second method is, once again on the World Map page, to click on the SimBrief button, select VIEW CURRENT FLIGHT PLAN, then click on IMPORT FLIGHT PLAN.

Does it make any difference which method is used?

From what I see, MSFS2020 “knows” the loaded flight plan at this stage, it is just not being transferred into the GPS system. I only ask because until recently it used to load into the GPS, but now does so extremely rarely (say 1 in 25 attempts).

  1. I don’t have the Black Square BE58 Baron addon. For the default Baron G58, I just used the SimBrief addon in MSFS 2020 to create, Generate and Import Route. This loaded the flight plan into the World Map and into the G58 G1000.

  2. I then created a different flight plan in SimBrief online, and saved it to c:\Users\myname\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\ and Loaded it on the World Map using Load from this PC. The flight plan then appeared in World Map and Fly showed it loaded into the G1000.

So you can use either. The first is simpler.

I have just tried the default Asobo Baron BE58 and exactly replicate your results, too.

It seems that the problem lies within the BlackSquare BE58 Baron itself. Is there any way to inform BlackSquare of the problem?

Best to ask Blacksquare via their forum/support.

Thanks for your help. I have done just that and found I am not alone. Been given two work-arounds to try, one using Little Nav Map, the other using the tool panel (?) of the GTN750 GPS. We shall see!

I cannot get past the Flight Simulator SimBrief button from taking me direct to “Support” which is absolutely usless. I need to get past that. HOW?

Simple - don’t use the Simbrief button within MSFS.

To load a SimBrief flight plan go to the World Map page in MSFS. Use the SPACE - MORE button at the menu bar at the foot of the page, followed by the LOAD - SAVE button. This will open the folder where the SimBrief flightplan has been stored. Highlight the flightplan and click on ‘Open’. This will return you to the World Map page where you will see the route has now been loaded. You then need to add the correct Point of Departure. When done, click on FLY (still ignoring the SIMBRIEF button).

This has worked for me, but sadly not on every occasion.
