I’m using X Plane 11, Zibo (only) and have just noticed this problem but, it has most likely been going on since the dawn of man, LOL.
I set my route up in SimBrief and all is correct, I then ‘Generate Flight’ and all is well, however, when I then go into ‘Downloader’ and export said flight it does it but not the flight I generated. It’s as though it totally ignores the plan that I created and installs its own.
In the above example I show the plan that Downloader installed and at the bottom I’ve copied and pasted the actual flight plan I created in SimBrief and then generated.
I’m obviously doing something wrong but I just can’t put my fat finger on it, can somebody point me in the right direction please?
Since the downloader always loads your latest flight, it looks like the vAMSYS one is overwriting your intended route.
Since you are already dispatching through vAMSYS, normally there should be no need to also dispatch on SimBrief unless you want to customize a setting that vAMSYS doesn’t offer. If you must also dispatch through SimBrief, make sure to generate the SimBrief flight after the vAMSYS one.
I think this is where I maybe getting mixed up. vAMSYS ‘offers’ me a route in the VA however, I don’t on many occasions wish to implement that particular route therefore I build my own, which I do AFTER the vAMSYS route and I expected this would overwrite the vAMSYS route?
So, do you suggest NOT dispatching with SimBrief and ignoring that and dispatch WITHOUT SimBrief?
Will this enable the plan that I generate to be installed accordingly?
Selecting a route and generating a flight in SimBrief will not update the vAMSYS route, you can only update it by typing it into vAMSYS manually.
So the way I see it, there are a few workflows you could use here, either:
Generate your flight plan on SimBrief, then copy the resulting route into vAMSYS page before clicking “Dispatch via SimBrief”.
If you don’t necessarily care for your SimBrief OFP to be displayed in vAMSYS, you can simply generate a SimBrief flight plan on your own and click “Dispatch without SimBrief” in vAMSYS.
Another option is to go through the full vAMSYS dispatch process (including creating the OFP), then open SimBrief to the Edit Last Flight page. The vAMSYS flight you just generated should be auto-filled, simply select a different route as required and click “Generate Flight” to re-generate.
Note: After generating a flight plan directly on SimBrief, I believe you can also re-import it for display within vAMSYS by clicking the following button:
Something else that I simply don’t understand is how is it that it already pre-determines my departure runway given that is neither manually inputted nor even suggested in vAMSYS along with the STAR?
