I have followed all the correct steps as far as I know to get sim brief to work with MSFS 2024. I have the correct sim brief app in my EFB. I made a flight plan and generated it while in MSFS 2024. I was logged in with sim brief as I made the flight plan. I generated the flight plan and weights correctly. The flight plan showed up in my G1000 on my SF50 jet fine. I use “Say Intentions.AI” for my voice comm. I go to get my IFR clearance and I get this notice form ATC: “file your flight plan on SimBrief. simbrief is free. username in the app settings. If you’d like to fly VFR, just let me know.” I have retraced all my steps for making sure I am logged in to sim brief properly. Yes, I have clicked on “Import route” also.
Any suggestions to get my sim brief OPF to be recognized by MSFS 2024? Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Please can you give us the (or a) flight plan that is not working?
My assumption is that there are different AIRAC cycles. You create a flightplan with the default AIRAC, which is 2403, and try to import the generated flightplan into MSFS2024, which uses AIRAC 2513.
These are more than 12 cycles in total, with numerous changes. When, for example, a terminal procedure, a waypoint, or an airway no longer exists in the newer cycle, the fallback is to fly VFR. That is absolutely normal.
It is highly recommended to be in sync between the different systems, which means that every sim and every addon uses the same AIRAC cycle to avoid discrepancies.
To be sure that this is the case, a flight plan would be helpful.
I think you already pointed out the issue. AIRAC is outdated in my Sim brief app, (Red AIRAC button.) But in order to update AIRAC, I would have to have a paid subscription the Navigraph. Sim Brief. Navigraph / MSFS 2024 all point out that Sim Brief can be used for free in MSFS 2024. Apparently that is not the case. I’m I correct in saying that the Sim brief will not work unless the AIRAC is updated? My “AIRAV” button in Sim brief is red indicating it needs the update. You requested a route to be posted with my reply. It may be moot because I have tried several different flight plan routes generated by Sim Brief while logged in and none work in MSFS 2024, (ie: I get the default ATC reply that I have to sign up to Sim Brief with username, etc.) I have verified multiple times I am logged in to Sim brief correctly. So, is it the fact that my Sim Brief AIRAC not updated the issue?
PS: Is there a work-around for not having the AIRAC versions not matching?
As you can see, you don’t need a subscription to use Simbrief. With all its features and default data, Simbrief is free, and you currently have access to support.
What you can do is, subscribe for one month only - bring all your systems (Simbrief, sim, and all your addons) on the same AIRAC cycle level, and that’s it.
We don’t remove the data on your system (also not in Simbrief), so you can use the cycle (even outdated ones) as long as you do not initialize/re-install your OS or your SIM. With this workaround, you have a consistent system in place.
Well, I now have a paid subscription to Navigraph and my AIRAC is up to date. I both the Navigraph and Sim brief apps shown in my EFB in MSFS 2024. It still does not work??? I have the Navigraph hub and installed 1) AIRAC Cycle 2513 rev 1…2) Navigraph Charts In-gamepanel v8.11…3) Avionics Plugin G1000/G5000 V2.0.7…I am signed in with Navigraph, (account is good.) I made a “New” flight plan KCOS-KDEN, (see pix.) I filled in all the required boxes and clicked on “Generate” (See video.) The generated route showed up after I clicked on generate. The route was “Valid.” I then went to the “Navigraph charts” and there was no origin or destination, (I don’t think Sim Brief copies the generated rout to Navigraph charts???) In MSFS 2024, I selected KCOS as departure and KDEN as arrival, (To match my “Generated” flight plan.) In the onboard navigation in the aircraft it shows KCOS. I then call for IFR clearance to KDEN and the same old error comes up: “To fly IFR you need to enter your SimBrief username in the app settings. if you’d like to fly VFR, just let me know.” See pix. So, there is something I am doing wrong and I cannot figure it out. there is a step missing. *I do have my username in the SimBrief app. So any help here?
Can you write your postings more structured and not like a snake, one sentence after another? It would be helpful to read the details without making notes beside them - thank you!
I will try step by step to find what you are doing wrong, therefore:
Can you confirm that you have entered your Simbrief Username in the SAI app too? I ask because you see the question in your first screenshot.
Sorry for the long post. Yes, the username was not in SAI app. That was the problem. *I had deleted the SAI App and never put in my sim brief username. All works fine now. Again, sorry for the long replies. Best, Captain Ret: ATP CFIIME FETJ. Type: B-747, B-737, DC-10, EMB-110. 37,000 tt. THANKS AGAIN!
