SB planning north on a south-bound only airway

Hello team. Using AIRAC 2602 verified in the TFDi MD-11 and used Simbrief to plan a flight from SPJC-KTPA and it resulted in a plan of:

**TELE2F ATATU UM674 TBG UL465 ARNAL UM335 FUNDI DCT MCLAW DCT VAULT Q79 FEMID DCT FERAL BLFRG3**

Using the TFDI EFB, it imported the flight plan, and when I went to send it to the FMS, it gave me “UNABLE TO LOAD F-PLN”. I reached out to the TFDI devs and their response was “this isn’t a bug - airway entry works properly. If it’s not in the database, there’s nothing we can do”

I tried a manual entry of the flight plan and the FMS took everything up to UM335 and when I tried to enter FUNDI it said “WAYPOINT NOT FOUND”. It’ll populate the lat/long in the FIX page so it knows its there.

I then had someone point out that UM335 is a south-bound only route and the MD-11 may recognize that and not let you plan northbound on the route (see picture). I requested a different route and everthing works.

I’m not sure if this is a Jeppesen data issue, how SB calculates routes, or even if this is a problem, but I wanted to forward this to the minds of those smarter to me to determine if it is.

Cheers

Yep, Simbrief doesn’t enforce airway directionality unfortunately. Apparently fixing it is non-trivial.

I’ve manually removed this route from the database.

It’s worth noting Simbrief doesn’t generate routes unless there is no existing user route for a given airport pair – so the route in question was simply planned by another user at some point in the past.

Regards,

Tim
