It would be really useful if SimBrief could store all the routes I’ve created in a database. (Although I’ve just realized I could set one up in Excel - DOH!).
I’m a former flight planner for a European regional airline, and every time I fire up SimBrief, I get a bit of nostalgia building my own routes. Some of them take time to plan, but once they’re saved and filed, they often disappear, never to be used again.
I frequently do series of flights from a feature airport, using similar flight plans for multiple destinations within the same country (e.g., EGNX-LOWS-ENGM-LOWS-EGSS-LOWS-LGRP-LOWS-EGNX). It would be incredibly helpful if I could pull a previously filed route—like my EGSS flight plan for the trip back to EGNX. - or even repeating a route a few months later.
Of course nav databases change, and there is a risk of routes no longer being valid, but that happens in the real world to, when a flight plan no longer works, you change the bit that is broken and update the database accordingly.
In case i have missed it, Is there currently a way to store and retrieve my own routes in SimBrief or Navigraph Charts? If not, I’d love to see this as a future feature.
You previously created flight plans are stored and available in both Navigraph Charts and SimBrief. In Charts , press Unload and you should see past flights with Sort and search facilities.
Indeed, Thanks Ian - i found the saved flights option yesterday. but isn’t linear in its work flow.
But, thinking about what you have suggested. When loading into Simbrief I am presented with a bunch of flights from the system - Where would you stand on our own work (if it is there) being presented first? or at least highlighted as a “SELF” flight plan. - We are already shown Eurocontrol, Vatsim, and other user flights, so there must be a database somewhere with routes added, just a question of highlighting the source. - one of my routes, must be presented to me at some point, (perhaps not every time), if it’s one i have done before?
okay - the Desktop charts serves better in this way. - I can search “EGNX to EGJJ”. and they appear. -
For the website, the saved flights page seems to only search flight numbers? - using airports doesn’t produce results.
I only have 84 flights in my dispatch history, (the scary part there is that is only in the last 8 weeks. - goodness.)
My name is Liam, and, CLEARLY I am addicted to flight simulation…
