Request to Correct the Country Designation of Pristina International Airport "Adem Jashari"

I am writing to bring to your attention what appears to be an incorrect geographical designation in your airport database.

I noticed that Pristina International Airport is displayed as "Pristina, Montenegro-Serbia"instead of “Pristina, Republic of Kosovo.” I kindly ask you to review this entry and correct it so that it accurately reflects the airport’s geographical location.

The Republic of Kosovo declared its independence on 17 February 2008 and has operated as a sovereign state ever since. It has been recognized by more than 100 countries and participates in numerous international and regional organizations. Pristina International Airport operates within the Republic of Kosovo and uses internationally assigned aviation identifiers, including ICAO: BKPR and IATA: PRN.

Hi,
There is still no official ISO 3166 country code, so we can’t assign one to the country.

As soon as this is done, you will see the correct country names too. This is nothing we have in our hands and is more of a political & organizational issue.

Anyway, the airport ICAO is correct and available, and this is for our hobby, the important part. This hobby is borderless, and we should be happy and proud about that.

Thank you for your response.

I completely understand you, and I absolutely do not want to mix politics into this matter. However, I believe that when a state actually exists, we cannot rely solely on codes that have not yet been officially established due to some of the issues you mentioned, namely the political ones.

Considering the fact that Navigraph’s partner, Jeppesen, recognizes it as such, and based on the chart “ILS OR LOC RWY 17 – PRISTINA, KOSOVO,” I find it somewhat illogical that Navigraph cannot recognize it in the same way.

I fully understand that there may be technical or procedural reasons behind this, but I believe this is something that could reasonably be reconsidered.
