I have twice attempted to fly KMIA-KMSY with the PMDG 777-300ER.
This is the plan SIMBRIEF generated:
GLADZ4 BAGGS Y290 BACCA DCT ROZZI Y280 REDFN DCT HRV DCT.
After HRV the approach fails when I select the APP; The aircraft flies away from the airport.
the aircraft tries to execute the plan which involves a last minute turn and descent 2 miles from the airport. Please refer to the screenshot of the FMC that I posted above.
That plan is the Simbrief planâŚnot an operator error, but if you need to see the 2 hour video, I can post it here.
Your apparent expectation that all flights can be flown in LNAV using a route that always plugs directly/neatly into the final approach is erroneous.
GLADZ4 BAGGS Y290 BACCA ROZZI Y280 REDFN HRV is currently the second most common IRL route flown from KMIA to KMSY (and you will notice all recent IRL airliner routes from MIA to MSY all end at HRV regardless).
IRL, air traffic control will get you from HRV to the final approach course using radar vectors; if you are not flying with ATC (e.g. VATSIM) then you will have to vector yourself onto the approach. Thatâs your responsibility as a pilot, not a Simbrief error.
Hi Claus,
Tim is absolutely right. You may not expect a correct approach in this case. That has nothing to do with our data; The same would happen when you use the stock data.
Richard,
I have been a NAVIGRAPH customer since October 28, 2018, for more than SIX years.
During that time I have flown to most major airports in North America and Western Europe.
In all those cases, the Simbrief plans and charts have guided me to ILS landings - most of them right on the money.
The Simbrief flight plan to KMSY is the only case that has not worked for me.
So I think you should moderate your somewhat condescending response to a long time customer.
Rgds,
Claus
Claus, sorry, I donât want disrespect, but that has nothing to do with whether you are a one-day or long-term user. We make no difference here in the quality of our answers and the efforts to find a solution.
However, the answer and the solution are the same, and Tim, also a long-term subscriber, explained that very well and correctly.
It has nothing to do which tool you use for your flight planning here. It ends all in a vector to the final. Looking at the charts, you will see that only one STAR does not use vectors for ILS 11; itâs AWDAD1. All other needs vectors from ATC and ends at the last waypoint of the STAR.
In your case, it ends at HRV, and you must expect vectors to runway 11 under the guidance of the ATC, or you need vectors yourself.
Using this flightplan is the only and correct solution, regardless of whether it is from Simbrief.
This is not an ignorant answer from me or any other customer here; itâs simply the only answer and the only correct one. I donât know what we should answer when you disagree with it.
Richard,
Perhaps you or Tim can show us how to vector to KMSY?
I would certainly appreciate a short YouTube video demonstrating how this should be done.
This would teach me how to use Simbrief in a case like this.
Rgds,
Claus
Hi Claus,
Iâm no airline pilot, so please donât expect a professional answer here. Itâs the wrong forum to ask how you fly vectors to reach an airport correctly.
First, it is entirely independent of where the flightplan comes from (so it has nothing to do with Simbrief); you have a flightplan and want to reach your destination.
Second, this flightplan ends at HRV, so you get vectors (lateral and vertical) to the final of ILS 11 from ATC, where you can capture the localizer. Headings and altitudes ⌠Set the ILS frequency, check if the ILS/GS comes alive, and that is it.
That is the ânormalâ procedure, at least when you fly with ATC support (Vatsim or IVAO). I donât know how you do this without ATC or in case of communication failure. Usually, there are special procedures available somewhere, but again, this is the wrong platform to answer this professionally. Sorry. All of this has nothing to do with Simbrief, the data, the charts, etc. It is how such vectors can be handled in real life.
I have found a good video about the âvectors,â hopefully, that helps you:
The problem is that I am not talking with ATC in this MSFS Flight Simulator GAME!
So, without that I can not vector my aircraft to KMSY.
But no need for any further response from you as I am not ever flying to KMSY again.
Cheers,
Claus
