Possible Navdata and ILS issue

Hi,
I recently installed Navigraph on W11 (and also Beyond ATC for immersion), and I’m still a bit of a noob, so apologies if I’m missing something obvious.

Twice now I’ve had a very strange issue flying into Malta (LMML) RWY 31, once with the stock CJ4 and once with the stock SF50 in MSFS 2024 (SU3).

On my first flight (LKPR → LMML with the CJ4), ATC reassigned me to ILS 31. After DIRKA the FMS froze — it kept showing DIRKA as the active leg even after passing it, and “Direct-To” didn’t work. When I tuned NAV1 to 110.50 the ident LM appeared correctly, but the course auto-set to 360° instead of the published 311°. The localizer needle never moved, so the aircraft could not intercept LOC even when crossing it. I had to land visually.

Because I thought this might just be a CJ4 problem, I tried again with the stock Vision Jet (an aircraft I have dozens of hours on without any IFR or approach issues). This time I flew LICR → LMML. Exactly the same thing happened: the GPS suddenly sequenced backwards to a fix behind me, “Next DTK in 0 sec” kept flashing, and I was off the magenta line even though GPS was active. A “Direct-To” the FAF also did nothing, and again the course for the next leg showed 360° even though the fix was clearly southeast of me. I also tried flying the ILS with the Vision Jet, and it looked exactly the same as with the CJ4 — ident LM but the course locked at 360° and the LOC never intercepted. I have screenshots of this behaviour (attached).

I don’t have any add-on scenery for Malta, only stock + Navigraph. FSLTL and Beyond ATC were running, but I don’t think they can affect navdata. Everywhere else, both aircraft work fine with IFR and approaches. I haven’t yet tested another airport — so far I have only seen this at Malta RWY 31.

Could this be some kind of duplicate ILS and navdata conflict between Navigraph and stock? Why does the localizer auto-course come up as 360 instead of 311, and why does LNAV sequencing freeze on a previous fix? Any advice how to troubleshoot this would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Jakub

Hi Jakub,
First, welcome to Navigraph, and thank you very much for this detailed report.

One missing point here - I assume you are speaking from MSFS2024, correct?

When yes, please try this and check if it happens again …

Thank you
Richard

Hello Richard,

Thank you for a quick reply. Yes, I am indeed on MSFS2024. I will try to reset content file and report back.

Cheers,

Jakub.

Jakub, FSTL can also be an issue here. I would try the flight (after the content reset) without both (BATC and FSTL) to reduce the complexity.

Again, if possible from your side, of course.

Thank you
Richard

Hi Richard,

I tried all the steps you suggested: I repeatedly deleted content.xml, reinstalled the Navigraph navdata via Hub, and also tested flights without FSTL and BeyondATC. Unfortunately, nothing works.

It’s not only the ILS course showing 360 instead of 311 — the FMS itself also breaks down on this approach: the magenta GPS line is not followed even though GPS is active. “Direct-To” to the FAF or RWY does not work.

I also noticed that I cannot add or select waypoints directly from the FMC during the flight (for example DIRKA), only waypoints imported from SimBrief are available.

I am uploading my newest content.xml file and screenshots.

Thank you for your help.

Content.xml (80.2 KB)

Jakub

Hi again Jakub,
Can you confirm that this content.xml file is from the subfolder (your game-tag ID) of the local cache folder?

Also, can you please delete the content.xml file in your LocalCache folder so that you have only one `content.xml ’ file - one in the subfolder.

Thank you,
Richard

Thank you for rapid response, Richard!

I cannot locate the file in the adress in your guide, I needed to use the ctrl+f. The adress is>
“C:\Users\slfuk\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\<myXboxtag\Content.xml”

Could this be a problem? I use the Xbox version.

Hi Jakub,
Not sure - I have the PC version - I’m not that familiar with XBox.

But, I see you reference the folder LocalCache\<myXBoxtag> … that is the correct content.xml since SU3. Before, this file was located only on LocalCache - can you check if you have a content.xml file too, and if so, can you delete it please, because this file will never be used since SU3.

Thank you,
Richard

Oh I am so sorry, I mean Xbox app version, but on Windows 11, sorry for the inaccuracy.

I checked the LocalCache - there is no content.xml

Jakub
