Persistent “No-Fly FIR” Option for OFP and Enroute Charts

Hi,

I would like to suggest a feature that could improve route planning and operational awareness.

It would be very useful to have an option in the settings to define permanent “No-Fly FIRs”. The idea would be that users could add specific FIR regions to a list that the system automatically avoids. The list should also be editable, so users can easily add or remove FIRs whenever needed.

Currently, it can be quite time-consuming to manually add the same FIRs to avoid every time when planning flights. Having a persistent setting for avoided FIRs would make planning much more efficient, since the selected FIRs would always remain active unless the user changes them.

Suggested behavior:

  • Users can add one or more FIRs to a No-Fly list in the settings.

  • The list would be modifiable at any time (add/remove FIRs).

  • When generating an OFP, any airports within those FIRs would automatically be excluded from being selected as alternate airports.

  • The same restriction would apply on the route preview page, preventing alternates or route suggestions inside those FIRs.

Chart visualization idea:
It would also be very helpful if these FIRs could be visually highlighted on the Enroute Chart, for example:

  • The FIR area shaded or outlined in red

  • A label such as “NO FLY ZONE”

This would be similar to how restricted regions are shown on some professional enroute charts (for example in LIDO enroute charts).

This feature would be useful for sim pilots who want to simulate real-world restrictions or avoid specific airspaces for realism.

Thanks for considering this idea!
