I am looking for a yearly data subscription only. Why is it so hard to find that option if it still exists? I can only find the monthly data subscription in which I am not interested.

I´m not sure what you mean by “hard to find”. When you click on your account (located at the top, to the left of the red Subscribe button), you will see the options clearly displayed. Two more prominent (because both are used most of the time), and at the bottom:
Get a Navigation Data subscription
The prices may differ due to varying country VATs.
