I know there have been discussions about this in the past. I did some exhaustive testing today and realized that while Navigraph HUB is installing navdata for the iFly 738 Max into the WASM\MSFS2024 folder, the message directly from Flight1 on their Discord channel is that the data MUST go into the WASM\MSFS2020 folder. Otherwise it falls back to their static 2023 cycle. I tried copying the data from one to the other, even creating a “Permanent” junction folder linking the two. But all attempts essentiall broke the aircraft of the simulator and required a big cleanup and reinstall. When you look at this aircraft inside the simulator, it still shows as a 2020 aircraft, even though they are continually releasing patches to bring it up to 2024 standards. It is not yet seen as 2024 aircraft, which I think might be causing the issues. Is there a solution to this that I am missing? Thanks for your time.
EDIT: Windows 11, MSFS 2024 (obviously), AIRAC 2509. Let me know if you need more details.
Hi,
So it looks like something is wrong with MAX installation, and according to the iFly answer, you should try to reinstall the MAX, the Hub and/or your sim.
IFly confirms in this statement that the Hub is working as expected and the data location is correct.
@NAVData thank you. So yes we believe that Navigraph HUB is installing the navdata in the correct location (WASM\2024). Strangely enough, the aircraft will NOT read your navdata from that folder if the aircraft is symlinked or junctioned from a different drive INTO the Community folder. I verified this by reinstalling the MAX directly into the Community folder. I can’t imagine why this is the case, as it works fine with PMDG through a linked junction folder. Do you know of this being the case in other aircraft as well? I am desperate to understand why it is a problem, because I am the developer of the linking app (a new one) and want to solve it if I can.
We don’t believe it only. We also have the official confirmation from iFly devs in their statement here.
No sorry, but generally we don’t recommend/support such linkages. The sim is so complex and produces so many unknown issues, such as CTDs and stuttering, that every non-standard installation increases the support and complexity needed to determine the reason for those issues.
Sorry that I cannot help you more here. Good luck with your addon
