MSFS/MSFS2024 LEMO "MRN" TACAN Missing

Hello,

I noticed the Morón TACAN (Ch 100X, 115.3 Mhz) is missing from the databases. In real life we as civilians use this TACAN for Range information, aside from the obvious military usage of it.

Also, for reference, AOG TACAN, which is the next closest one, shows in sim and works as expected.

Many thanks

Hi,
Thank you for your question. I have looked into it further, and yes, the MRN TACAN is not included. The reason is that AIP Spain lists two navaids with the exact same identifiers: a VOR DME and a TACAN with MRN. According to the ARINC424 rules, you can´t use the same identifier at the same airport; therefore, only the VORDME MRN is included.

So this is a coding regulation - as an option for your range information, use the VORDME MRN which is included.

Here, directly from the AIP Spain:

Hope that helps,
Richard

That is correct and not a typo indeed. They both use the same identifier and furthermore are spaced from each other a few meter. Thanks for looking into it though

This is indeed a known limitation with numerous examples in different countries (especialley Turkiye, Iran, Thailand). A possible solution is to rename these tacans (eg with a T at the end (MRN->MRNT). I don’t know if Navigraph can do that (although a simple script may do the job).

100% Agree. I raised the question because I had to add the missing TACAN (I used TMR as ID to avoid conflict with MRN) to my custom LEMO scenery, which worked for most airplanes in sim, but for others that use Navigraph as the only source for navaids (Milviz C130J for example), it wouldn’t show up as long as Navigraph does not include it

Hi guys,
I will check whether I can add this TACAN manually as MRNT when it´s ok for you… I’ll keep you informed … Thanks, guys!

Cheers,
Richard

Added! Available from AIRAC 2611 on in all datasets!

TACAN ident: MRNT (115.30 - Channel 100X)

Cheers,
Richard

Appreciate it very much! Thanks Richard!
