Magnetic variation applied for runway selection?

Hello,

It doesn’t look like magnetic variation is being applied for the runway selector.

FAOR METAR 100900Z 29013KT CAVOK, etc.

METAR wind is in degrees true.

Magnetic variation here is 18°W, so magnetic wind is 308°M. This would slightly favour RWY 03, but the app shows a headwind component of 3kt for RWY 21:

The above can only work if the magnetic variation isn’t being applied.

Let’s do the calculation the other way around:

RWY 21 magnetic runway bearing is 214°M, so 196°T. The wind from 290°T is more than 90° off runway bearing, so it would be a tailwind.

Please could you check and confirm this?

Same here.

Charts gives the following information:

Meanwhile Simbrief’s takeoff performance calculator shows this:

Or if you set winds to magnetic:

…where it correctly converts the METAR winds to magnetic headings.

Should I be posting somewhere else for support for the issue?

No, you have posted in the correct place indeed! Your topic unfortunately slipped under our radar, sorry for the late response.

Thank you for the feedback! We shall look into this, something is obviously not quite right.

Kind Regards,
