Lesson 6 causing MSFS 2020 CTD

I have had problems loading Lesson 6 while in MSFS2020. It loads fine in MSFS2024.

After I bring up the lesson from the custom content page I hit FLY and the main lesson page comes up. After a few seconds, before I have a chance to hit the READY TO FLY button, MSFS CTDs. I have removed and re-installed Navigraph Academy Lessons v1.0.0 through the Navigraph Hub but it made no difference.

I’m running version 1.39.9.0 of MSFS.

Thanks a lot for the report. Can you try the below procedure, please.

Find your Community folder (the folder that Academy is installed in)

For the Windows Store install:

C:\Users\**USERNAME**\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community

For the Steam install:

C:\Users\**USERNAME** \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community

**IMPORTANT!**Windows 10 by default hides the “AppData” folder, so you will have to go to “View” in the menu of File Explorer, and select “Hidden items” so as to see it.

  • Once you have found this folder, rename it to “Community-old” and once this is done, create a new Community folder.

  • Next, open Navigraph Hub and install the Academy Lessons into the newly created Community folder.

Once these steps are done, try the lesson again.

Hi Gordon,

I created a new empty community folder and installed the lessons in it. There is nothing else in the folder. This did not resolve the problem. Same symptoms. Is there is crash log that MSFS creates after a CTD that I can send you?

In that new community folder, did you download only the Academy Lessons through Navigraph Hub?

Yes it was the only item in the community folder.

I have this problem too. A blank folder “community” doesn’t solve it. I passed all the lessons except this one. I can’t take the exam!

Just an FYI, I just updated to 1.01 of the lessons and the problem still exists.

Hello,

We have isolated the issue to a MSFS2020 update, World Update 12: New Zealand. If you disable this update, the sim will no longer crash to desktop.

Thanks. That did the trick. Strange it only affected 2020 and not 2024.

cant load lesson 6, msfs crash after tried to load it, need to restart the game, never had this kind of problem before using academy. other lessons work well but 6 dont thanks
