Lesson 2 - Enroute Instrument Navigation

In this lesson, we’ll leave the local training area and start flying IFR enroute. You’ll learn how to plan and fly a cross-country route using RNAV, significant points, and the G1000 system, and you’ll be introduced to the basic logic of the autopilot and the Flight Mode Annunciator (FMA).

Hi

Have done the second IFR lesson from KSEA to Friday Harbour twice now and failed both times with multiple waypoints missed by 3000m. But the flightplan was followed perfectly both by the G1000 and Navigraph maps.

Not sure what to do next. Hope you can have a look at that for me.

Regards

Graham

Hello,

From what I can see, a lot of IFR lesson 1 and 2 flights were attempted but ended early. The latest attempt for IFR lesson 2 was successful, however the last waypoint “Friday Harbour” was missed.

I understand the IFR lesson 2 is a bit long, however make absolutely sure you don’t pause the sim for an extended period. With that said, are you doing that? pausing or tabbing out of the screen for a long time?

Hi Gordon
The last attempt was uninterrupted and finished with landing, parking and shutdown at Friday Harbour.
Seems to be recording the first few waypoints jof the SID as missed resulting in a fail.
Will try once more over the weekend,
Regards Graham

I’m unable to get the flight plan to download into the G1000. Tried two times, and both time it only loaded the route from KSEA up to Banger. The first time I loaded it after engine start, prior to taxi, the second time I loaded it as soon as I was in the aircraft. Any suggestions?

How are you entering the flight plan? Are you following the same method as described in the lesson video, by using the in-game Charts app?
