INOP: An Unexpected Occurrence

Hello,

Since the last update, I’m getting the following message regularly in Charts Desktop:
INOP: An Unexpected Occurrence

I can’t find a specific trigger that causes it, but I can describe my use case:

  • It usually seems to happen when Charts Desktop has been minimized
  • FPL imported from Simbrief
  • IVAO traffic showing on the map (well, some of the traffic anyway, but that’s another bug)
  • When I restart Charts Desktop, all changes from the previous session (imported route, selected procedures, pinned charts,…) are gone, and the flight before my current one is showing again.

The error page provides a link to copy a log. I’ll attach the entries partaining to today below.

Any help getting this fixed (or logged to be fixed) would be appreciated! Thanks!

Same symptoms here. Usually this INOP: An Unexpected Occurence has appeared when Charts has been open for long time (let say several hours) without using it. After restarting Charts, it opens with some earlier, quite old flightplan which does not even exist in my flightplans list anymore. Unloading that flightplan and loading some other, after that works fine again.

Had it happen again. The error log was the same as the one included in the first post (just different time stamps obviously).

I did notice that using the ‘reload’ button instead of closing and restarting charts desktop succesfully kept the flight loaded.

Hello! Welcome to our forum and thank you for the feedback!

Sorry for the late response. The team was attending FSExpo, and now significant parts of it are on summer vacation.

Thank you for providing a log file! Unfortunately, it is quite hard to trace the issue based on it only. I have added some additional logging to your account - please let me know if and when you see the issue and we’ll take a deeper lock!

Initial signs point towards this being a map related issue. We are currently working on improvements in this area of the app, so it is possible that the situation will improve with the next update!

Kind Regards,
Malte

Thanks for the reply! I’ll shout out if it happens again.

It happened again, 2025-07-15 19:43:55 local time (UTC+2).
Slight difference in situation this time: I wasn’t flying, but had left Charts Desktop open after my last flight.

Unfortunately, the extended logs seem to have failed to activate. I can’t see any further information this time around.

I have re-enabled the logs. Let me know if it happens again! Apologies for the inconvenience.

It’s been a very long time, but I just had the same error happen again. 12/11/2025 14:27z

Thank you for the update!

I can see the error in your logs. It is likely to be improved or even fixed with the next release! I will add it as input to the team internally.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

That’s good news!

Thanks for the help.
