Once chosen, pressing the relevant know would open a touch window which allows for dragging the selected chart around the PFD/MFD window.
What actually happened
Since an update quite a while ago, the panning pop-up was replaced with three dots (see screenshot). Can’t remember which one, as I assumed it was a removal of a QoL that doesn’t exist irl, and only today I saw that it still works as initially in FS24.
It to my untrained eye appears to be a display issue? As clicking the middle dot opens the Chart Options pop-up, so it seems some functionality is still there, just in an unusable state.
The sim is MSFS 2020, the planes affected are stock TBM930 and Citation Longitude, the plugin version is 2.3.0. I tried to reinstall the plugin, as well as turning off all non-Navigraph items in the Community folder - the problem persisted. FS24 plugin is the same version, works in the TBM and the Longitude in that sim.
I rechecked and confirmed that the three dots are the options available above the touchpad control in the Pan/Zoom pop-up: Rotate <-, Charts Options, Rotate ->, their hitbox is so tiny that I didn’t realize it until specifically trying to click them. The touchpad itself is unaccounted for.
The left unit in the screenshot above is projected onto the PFD, the right one onto the co-pilot’s MFD. I have been using the knobs to pan, but it’s much slower than the touchpad and requires more precise cursor placement.
Both TBM and Longitude Enhanced are installed, 1.0.3 and 1.0.1 respectively.
That does not work for me in MSFS 2020 with G3000/G5000 plugin version 2.3.0 (in a default aircraft like the Longitude). Left-click and drag the bottom left GTC knob does not pan the chart.
I do not have MSFS 2024 to compare what the latest plugin does there.
In addition, right-clicking on said knob did use to bring up a “trackpad”, I think? Here in the FlightFX HJet, which bundles its own, older version of the Navigraph plugin:
As mentioned before, highlighted knob does not pan the chart (I do seem to recall it is meant to), and also, right-clicking said knob only hides/shows a slight opaque overlay with a dash-like white character (could be three dots, but my resolution is a mere 1080p) as opposed to a trackpad like in the HJet.
Maybe the control scheme makes a difference? I’m using Legacy, and the up/down/left/right control works for me. On the TBM, the scrolling is instead done with the top knobs being rotated.
In FS24 this method works as well, though the controls are inverted - knob down pans upwards, left pans right, etc.
The “dash-like white character” looks like the three dots, I had to zoom in real close to make them distinct.
Thanks for that! This build restored the panning in 2020 in both planes, also seems to work in FS24 though I can’t run it for long enough to test it as extensively.
