FMS Data Manager - ordinal 4540 could not be located in the dynamic link library

I have Windows 10 Pro. I download the latest FMS Data Manager v 1.8.5.1105 (23 Dec 2020) and installed it. After rebooting and opening the FMS Data Manager I receive a pop-up stating - ordinal 4540 could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigraph\FMS Data Manager\ssleay32.dll - Then I click the close button - The interface appears - and nothing is populated inside the program interface. Just a clean interface appears.

I cannot perform any actions, search, add addons. All drop-down boxes are blank - that is, no selections appear in any drop-down boxes. The interface is just dead and unpopulated.

Could you advise a corrective action that I could take to make the FMS Data Manager program respond correctly?

Hi…,

Welcome.

FMS data Manager requires ssleay32.dll.
This error normally occurs when an older ssleay32.dll is loaded from somewhere other than C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigraph\FMS Data Manager\ssleay32.dll.

You might search for ssleay32.dll on your c drive, in maybe c:\windows or c:\Windows\system32 or similar and rename to ssleay32.xxx. Then copy across C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigraph\FMS Data Manager\ssleay32.dll to those locations.

Re start windows and hopefully this is resolved.

Cheers
Ian

Hello Ian,

Thank you for the quick response.

I have searched the contents of my c:\windows and c:\Windows\system32 folders per your recommendation and I am unable to locate another instance of ssleay32.dll on my hard drive.

Could you tell me what version of ssleay32.dll I need to acquire and I will try to find it on the Internet?

Also, do I need to use the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the DLL and install it either in c:\Windows\system32 folder or c:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder?

As a last resort, would you be able to PM me the dll that I need?

Thank you.

TommyB

Hi Tommy,
the ssleay32.dll will be deployed with our setup. Means, you should have this dll in your
C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigraph\FMS Data Manager

When you don´t have the ssleay32.dll in this folder, something gone wrong during the installation or any anti-virus/defender software block this file during the installation of the FMS Data Manager.

Please check your FMS Data Manager folder first, if the file is located here …
Thanks & Merry Christmas,
Richard

Hello Again,

I am still having issues with the download of Navigraph FMS Data Manager missing the file ssleay32.dll in the folder located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigraph\FMS Data Manager.

Oddly enough, the file ssleay32.dll can be found in the C:\Program Files\Navigraph\Simlink Folder so I do not have an issue with downloading ssleay32.dll (at least not with the Navigraph Simlink program).

I do not think that I can simply copy and paste the ssleay32.dll located at C:\Program Files\Navigraph\Simlink because if it is installed at the C:\Program Files location that is a 64-bit DLL and copying it to the C:\Program Files (x86) location which is a folder for a 32-bit DLL file will not function properly.

I am on a Windows 10 machine.

I understand, that if I can obtain the 32-bit DLL version that it would need to be installed (both in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigraph\FMS Data Manager folder and the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder).

The opposite being true for the 64-bit DLL found in the C:\Program Files\Navigraph\Simlink folder the 64-bit DLL would be copied (both in the C:\Program Files\Navigraph\Simlink folder and the C:\Windows\System32 folder).

As I stated, above, I can download the Navigraph Simlink Program with no problem and it contains the 64-bit version of file ssleay32.dll installed in the C:\Program Files\Navigraph\Simlink Folder.

The Navigraph FMS Data Manager with the the 32-bit version of ssleay32.dll appears to be the gremlin here.

Is there any way, or anywhere, that I can go to download the 32-bit version of ssleay32.dll (that you use) and install it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigraph\FMS Data Manager folder and the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder to get FMS Data Manager working properly?

I do not know or understand why the 64-bit version of ssleay32.dll downloads just fine while the 32-bit version seems to be the problem child.

For now, the FMS Data Manager interface is just a useless and non-functional window with empty drop-down menus and no scans.

I just want to get FMS Data Manager up-and-running again and working properly.

Regards,

TommyB

Hi Tommy,
I have uploaded the ssleay32.dll from the FMS Data Manager here.

The program successfully downloads the Index File (It is in the folder) but then, according to the log file (above) I get a “Network socket error 299”.

I contacted Sophos Technical Support for Endpoint and they assisted with creating exclusions for the FMS Data Manager Program in separate areas: Program File (x86) and the folder in C:\ProgramData\Navigraph\FMSClient locations but still no joy.

It is crazy that I can connect and download the Index File (101 KB) and then the FMS program quits with the “Network socket error 299” error.

Any input or ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you.
