Flights to Honolulu receiving wrong STAR/RW

Good Day,

I’m the Facility Engineer for the Honolulu Control Facility at VATSIM and we are facing problems with flight plans that are being created by Simbrief.

Flights from PHOG to PHNL for example are nearly always receiving the SHLAE1 STAR, regardless of the airport configuration. We normally use the SHLAE1 STAR only when the airport is in a West Ops landing on 26L which is even stated on the charts. During an East Ops with landing 8L or 4R the JULLE5 STAR is preferred, yet that seems to be completely ignored by the dispatch system.

Also a lot of planes coming in for landing on the RW4 direction, they receive RW 4L instead of RW 4R, regardless of what aircraft is coming in. One time we even had an A380 trying to land on 04L because Simbrief told him so. Would it be possible there to actually have 04R preferred for landing instead of 04L? 04L is also relatively short and mostly only suitable for GA and STOL from what I see.

For preferred takeoff/landing runways, simBrief can do adjustments on their end upon request. For STAR selection, simBrief relies on the navdata which, in the US, often shows both STARs available for either runway configuration, same at e.g. KSLC.

Regards,

Tim
