Flight Number auto-fill

It would be great if entering a flight number (e.g. AF123, DL456) could automatically pre-fill key fields in SimBrief, such as:

  • Departure & destination airports

  • Airline / callsign

  • Aircraft type (or family)

  • A suggested route (when available)

This would speed up flight creation for real-world ops and reduce manual entry errors.
Everything could remain editable, with a fallback to the current workflow if no data is found.

Even a “best guess” route or commonly filed route would already be a huge win.

Thanks!

There’s three issues. The first is you’d have to have some way to track which route that flight number is operating since the airlines can easily change the route altogether for a given flight number. For instance, back in 2006, I flew UAL885, which ran SFO to KIX. Today, UAL885 runs FCO to IAD. The second issue is a flight number might run multiple routes. For instance, KLM787 runs AMS to SXM, SXM to POS, and POS to AMS. Then you have flights that run round trip, so DAL664 runs ATL to MCO and back to ATL. How does it know which one you want to fly. The third issue is one might choose a flight number without wanting to fly the actual route.
