Downloader 1.8.2 mandatory vs. optional

Hi,

FYI, just got update notification for Downloader v1.8.2 and got this presented as optional update. Release notes call it a mandatory update though, and given the release note it certainly sounds to me that it’s really mandatory. :slight_smile:

Just in case you get support requests of people who didn’t opt for updating (‘cause “optional’) and might become unable to download - or whatever is done with the socket.

Hi, thanks for the follow-up!

It will be mandatory in a day or so. We’re keeping it optional for the first few hours, as a kind of “soft-launch”, just to make sure there aren’t any major bugs (though there shouldn’t be).

Both the old and new versions will continue to work for now, this update is simply preparing for possible DNS updates down the road.
