Hi Derek,
some airports don’t have arrival or departure procedures. In this cases it would improve our flight planning if we could specify a distence that SimBrief should add to the first and/or the last route segement, to allow for maneuvering. In other cases arrivals are absurdly long and authorities allow for shortening the arrivals in flight planning (e.g. EDDF). Therefore, I would like to see two additional fields in the route section that allow for distance modification at departure and on arrival, which except positive and also negative numeric input.
In terms of programming adding to the distance of the first, or last segment is probably not too difficult. As for the shortening of the route, I would calculate the difference between the length of the arrival and the great circle distance from the first waypoint of the arrival to the destination and define this as the limit for route shortening. Depending on the user input, as many segments of the arrival as necessary should be shortened down to zero distance.
What do you think of this option?
Best regards,
Falk
