I am trying to import my SimBrief flight plans into Volanta (for flight logging purposes) but have hit a snag. Volanta does not seem to accept airport ICAO codes as valid intermediate waypoints the way SimBrief does. It does however accept Lat/Long Co-ordinates in the same format as SimBrief i.e. xxxxxN/SyyyyyE/W. I would like to find the easiest way to convert an ICAO code on a flight route into a Lat/Long Co-ordinate. I can expand the map and interpolate the value from the map grid, but is there a quicker and more accurate way?
Hi, I’ve added a workaround to auto-convert airports into lat/longs.
Simply append /LL to any airports, fixes, or waypoints in your route and SimBrief will convert them to lat/longs in the final flight plan.
For example, to convert KJFK to lat/long, enter it as KJFK/LL in the route string.
Best regards,
That’s brilliant. Thanks very much for doing this.
