Airac 2611

AIRAC 2611. MANUAL DOWNLOAD for Level d 767, TOPCAT and FS BUILD, do not install . Interestingly, the average weight of the Level D Airac is 12.2 mb and this month it jumped to 24.9 mb!

Same applies to the others.

Something is wrong here!

Your help ASAP wound be appreciated.

Hi Roy,
We use a new installer routine, so I´m curious about which path you enter in the installer. Can you take a screenshot of one of them as an example, please?

Like this:

Cheers & thank you,
Richard

Hi Richar,

Been installing Airacs for many years, so I know how to proceed. I am saying that the format of 2611 is wrong this month for the MANUAL DOWNLOADS for the Level D 767, aswell as for the FS BUILD and TOPCAT!

Hi again Roy,
I trust you, but that doesn´t really help … I have just used the FSBuild installer (screenshot above) with these settings and started FSBuild to create the database:

No issue; working as expected … still running …

Cheers,
Richard

I am trying to install the Airac 2612 on my Nav data on the level D 767 and after double clicking on the airac, it simply says that AIRAC DATA HAS STOPPED WORKING…

ALL 3 AIRACS, LEVEL D, TOPCAT AND FS BUILD SAYS THE SAME.

IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!

sorry for the text above in capital letters. No pun intended.

You mean when you double-click on the installer file, you get this message: “AIRAC DATA HAS STOPPED WORKING”? So the installer does not continue, right?

I ask because I don´t have this message anywhere in the code

Cheers
Richard

Correct.yes all 3 airacs produce the same result.

Ok, understood now. Thank you … Are you able to take a screenshot of this message, please?

Which OS do you use?

Cheers,
Richard

Please dont laugh! Windows Vista has been running my setup flawlessly with the Level D 767, for 15 years! Of course with your Airacs. Until today! Also, the past Airacs read only leveld-2610.zip and this one reads leveld-2611-r1.zip.

And it weight almost 25mb againt last month’s 12 mb.

Oh, ahm …

No, that is all right and correct so far, and when you run the installer, you will see that the data is correct.

Here is from my FSBuild test before:

As I have written before, we have been using the new installer since 2611, and it requires at least the .NET Framework 4.8. Now, Windows Vista is 20 years old and only supports .NET 4.6; therefore, you can´t run the installer on your system any longer. I´m sorry.

Windows Vista has been EOL (End-of-Life) for several years, and so has the .NET Framework 4.6, which means that if we use it and run into an issue, no one will help.

Sorry Roy, but we can´t help here - I guess it’s time for a newer OS, at least Windows 7 SP1, which is the lowest OS version where we can handle the support. Please contact account@navigraph.com with this posting as a reference link for further assistance.

I´m sorry,
Richard

Hello!

As mentioned above, changing our installers back would require significant effort and the use of tools/libraries that have long since reached EOL. We do not want to do that.

We understand that this may feel like a blow after all these years! As per the above message, we are offering you a refund if you consider this a dealbreaker.

However:

As a last-ditch effort to help you continue using our installers, we have created a tiny helper application that may allow you to run the new installers! We have not tried this on Vista, and we provide no warranty or guarantees, but it may let you continue using the installers almost as usual! Here are the instructions:

Installing AIRAC 2611 on Windows Vista

  1. Download A424VistaSetup.exe (42.5 KB) and save it in the same folder as the three AIRAC downloads.

  2. Unzip leveld-2611-r1.zip, topcat-2611-r1.zip and fsbuild-2611-r1.zip. You get LEVELD_2611.exe, TOPCAT_2611.exe and FSBUILD_2611.exe.

  3. Drag LEVELD_2611.exe onto A424VistaSetup.exe.

    • If Windows shows a security warning, check that the publisher is Navigraph Kommanditbolag and click Run.
    • When Windows asks for permission, click Continue. On some Vista PCs this window says “Unidentified program” even though the file is signed, because Vista doesn’t know the newer certificate. In that case click Allow.
  4. In the window that opens:

    • Simulator: select the simulator you use, for example Microsoft Flightsimulator 9.
    • Folder: check that it shows your Level-D Simulations folder. If it’s empty or wrong, click Browse and select that folder.
    • Click Install, check the folder it shows, and click Yes. Wait for “AIRAC cycle 2611 has been installed”.
  5. Repeat step 3 with TOPCAT_2611.exe. Select Tool/Addon. The folder should show C:\Program Files\Common Files\TOPCAT, the folder that contains Database.tdb.

  6. Repeat step 3 with FSBUILD_2611.exe. Select Tool/Addon. The folder should be your FSBuild program folder; the helper writes the data into its FSBuild subfolder itself. If the box is empty, click Browse and select that folder.

  7. Start FSBuild and let it create its database, as with every cycle.

You can use the same helper for future cycles: just drag each new installer onto it.

Have a go at it and let us know if it works!

Best Regards,
Malte

Hello and good morning Malte!

How can I thank you for the solution? It works great! One million thanks!

I do realize that I am running old software, and there is a very good reazon for it. I used to drive the 767, and my set up includes a full 1.1 cockpit with double panels, running super smooth. I cannot rid myself of it.

(My son drives a A330 and is trying to convince me to build a full scale A330, just like my 767, to no avail! At 73, I have the time but not the patience, he’s got the patience but lacks the time LOL.

YOU GUYS ARE GREAT AT EVERYTHING YOU DO. CUSTUMER SERVICE 10/10

THANK YOU ALL AGAIN

Cpt. Roy DeForrest

Fantastic, Roy - we were already afraid of losing a long-term customer. But the thanks clearly go to Malte, who had this great idea.

Enjoy the weekend, Roy, and thanks for your extremely kind words - much appreciated!

Cheers,
Richard
